He was predeceased by: his parents, Ansel Hartling and Margaret Hartling (Gallagher); and his siblings, Ethel Hartling, Florence Wilson, Lloyd Hartling and Mildred Moser.
He is survived by: his sons, Philip, Lester (Eva) and Jamie (Gail); his grandchildren, Matthew and Sarah (Tristan Shaw); his siblings, Sylvia Brown and Francis Young (Denise); his stepgrandson Robert Shortt; his stepgreat-granddaughter Kate Shortt; and his wife Verna (Jollymore). He is also survived by many nephews and nieces.
