She was predeceased by : her parents, Charles Whynder and Janet Whynder; her husband Deacon Wilfred Simmons; her niece Regina David (Manuel); her siblings, Rosanna Downey (Hugh), Nelson Whynder (Ruby), Eunice Simmonds (Thomas), Jeanette Beals (Wilfred), Graham Whynder (Jessie), Leroy Whynder (Leora), Carl Sinclair Whynder, Gary Archibald Whynder, Filma Simmonds (Peggy) and Elaine Whynder; her nephews, Irving Whynder (Elizabeth) and Foster Whynder (Donna); and her family TikTok.

She is survived by : her sister Sylvia Tate; her godchildren, Claudia Whynder, Wanda Williams, Irma Simmons, Sylvia Lawrence, Rosetta Simmonds and Antron Simmonds; and her close friends, Iona Smith and Viola Cain. She is also survived by 33 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 24th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the St. Thomas Baptist Church (35 Simmonds Rd, North Preston, NS B2Z1A3). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 24th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, April 24th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at the St Tomas Baptist Church Cemetery (780 Upper Governor St, North Preston, NS B2Z1A2). A reception was held on Wednesday, April 24th 2024 from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM at the Atlantic Funeral Home (771 Main St, Dartmouth, NS B2W3T9).
