He was predeceased by: his parents, James Buckland and Maria Buckland (Knott); and his siblings, Cecil, Walter, Clara, Hazel and Ena.

He is survived by: his close friend Harriet Strickland; his daughters, Ena Harris (David) of Amherst, Cathy Buckland of Amherst and Joanne Levy (Gerald); his grandchildren, Michael Harris (Gillian), Gillian Harris-Crocker (Luke), Mark Harris (Allie) and Alexander Levy; his great grandchildren, Calvin of Amherst, Annie of Amherst and Perry of Amherst; and his siblings, Annie MacDonald of Burgeo, NL and Garfield (Sylvia). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
