She was predeceased by : her children, Wes Burgess (Lu) and John Burgess; her sister Lilian Nelson Richmond Hill; and her parents, John Thornhill and Alice Thornhill.

She is survived by : her grandchildren, Hudson Jr., Catrina, Melissa, Shonda, Wes Jr., John, Angela, Adam, Robert and James. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
