He was predeceased by: his father Atze; and his siblings, Wolther and Janice. He is survived by: his mother Cornelia; his daughter Alyson (Tim Holland); the mother of his child Louisa Horne; his grandchildren, Arianna, Eve and Jake; his children, Neil and Marieke (Gianni Matragrano); the mother of his children Stephanie Woodend; and his sisters, Barbara and Margaret (Ron Burdock).

In his memory, donations can be made to any foodbank, homeless or emergency shelter, or the Nova Scotia Nature Trust.
