He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin Smith and Eleanor Georgina Smith (Stewart); his former wife Vivian Grace Henry; his grandparents, Elizabeth Stewart (Murphy) and John Stewart; his sisters, Josephine and Veronica; his son-in-law Roger Godden; and his grandson Michael Godden.

He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Seymour-Smith (Gagnon); his children, Elizabath, Martin and James; and his stepsons, John and William Seymour. He is also survived by 1 grandchild, 4 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
