Maurice James Bartlett Obituary
Maurice James "Jim" Bartlett, age 79, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Saturday April 19, 2025 at the Dartmouth General Hospital.
Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Albert Arthur Smith and Mabel Gertrude Smith (nee Revels).
Jim was fuller than life, always enjoying his rye and most importantly, his deep love for country music. Jim was a man with a larger than life attitude, someone who never fretted about the past, and lived in the present.
He was a longtime employee of Metro Transit, where he retired. He was the founder of "Stuff A Bus", a cause that was close to his heart. He also enjoyed trips to the Dominican Republic, where he often became the life of the party.
In 2023, he was able to finally experience his dream of going to Toronto to see the Toronto Blue Jays with Jesu.
Jim is survived by wife Debbie Loveridge-Bartlett; children Kirby (Maureen), James Dean "J.D.", Angela (Tim) Slaunwhite and Jesu Raj Anthony (adopted son from India); grandchildren Brooklynn Bhinder and Kale Slaunwhite.
Aside from his parents, he is predeceased by his brother Douglas Patrick Smith.
Special thanks to all the paramedics (especially Alaura, who played country music for him in the ambulance). Also, to the nurses in emerg (especially nurses Alex and Jacob on the 5th floor). The family also wishes to thank Corinna for her care and compassion over the last number of months.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday April 25, 2025 at 2:00 PM at 25 Hirandale Crescent, Cole Harbour, NS.
