He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Raymond and Marie Alma Bowlby (Bourque); his sister Linda (Chris Howell); and his brothers-in-law, Jim Crawford and Jim Symons.

He is survived by: his wife Judith Anne McCarthy; his children, Patti, Terri (Dartmouth) and Robert (Vancouver); his granddaughter Ann-Marie Bowlby; his great grandchildren, Jacklynn, Amelia and Addison; his sisters, Margaret and Nancy Bowlby (Dartmouth); his sisters-in-law, Beverley and Mycki Symons; his nephews, Mike Howell (Carolyn), Tom Howell (Angie), David Pace (Jennifer) and James Pace (Rory); and his niece Susan Howell (BJ Dixon).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dartmouth General Hospital or the Lung Association of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.
