Onita Simmonds Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Onita Simmonds (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia), who passed away on November 28, 2021, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Amos Downey and Bertha Downey (Willis); her husband Victor Simmonds; her daughter Cindy (Darrell); her siblings, Vera, Margaret of Toronto, Vina (Garfield Jr.), Lorkey (Yvonne), Leon (Maureen) and Marshall (Norma); and her stepbrother Mitchell Smith.

She is survived by: her children, Wendy (Gary), Elroy (Marlene) and Hank (Debbie); her adoptive son Elvis Downey (Angela); her stepdaughter Patricia Braithwaite (Randy); her godchildren, Pearleen Downey, Almeda Willis, Lois Bruer, Cora-Lynn Fraser, Wanique Simmons, Queenie Downey, Angela Provo, Rose Willis, Vera Downey, Cornell Smith and Lincoln Downey; and her siblings, Myrtle of Toronto, Delores and Isaac. She is also survived by her beautiful sisters-in-law; extended family, and friends.

Covid precautions in place; all those in attendance must present proof of double vaccination and valid ID.
