He was predeceased by: his parents, James Maher and Marie Spurrell; his stepfather Jim Spurrell; his niece Jane; and his parents-in-law, Joyce and Fred Rowsell.

He is survived by: his wife Linda; his children, Deidre (Benoit) and Andrew; his grandchildren, Vivianne and Quentin; his siblings, Paul (Anne) and Monica (Peter); and his sisters-in-law, Kay (late Abe), Phyllis and Evelyn (late Martin).
