He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Arenburg and Grace Arenburg (McCulloch); his daughter Ruth Fahie; and his siblings, Laurie and Lina.

He is survived by: his wife Ruth Arenburg (Kerr); his children, Donna Murphy (Hughie) and Vernon Arenburg Jr.; his sister Gail Gray (John); his brother-in-law Gary (Cindy); his grandchildren, Andrew, Ian and Melissa; and his great grandchildren, Tristan, Desiree, Lily, Waylon, Nashlyn and Reid.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Dartmouth General Hospital.
