He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Dugas and Grace Dugas (Handspiker); his son Brian; and his siblings, Archie, Jackie and Joyce.

He is survived by: his wife Liz Durling; his siblings, Eileen and Carl; his children, Robert (Pam), Brenda (Mark) and Richard (Amy); his stepchildren, Tracey (Dave), Tammy (John) and Darren (Tina); and his grandchildren, Ian (Jenna), Katherine (Andrew), Jennifer (Sandy), Connor (Mhairi), Kieran (Susy), Melanie (Landon), Emily and Mason. He is also survived by many great-grandchildren.
