He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Dort and Marie Dort (MacInnis); and his mother-in-law Shirley Layes (Bowie). He is survived by: his wife Sandra Dort (Layes); his daughter Chelsea Dort; his grandson Luca-Saint Dort; his siblings, Bernice Mallet of Sydney, NS, Valerie Dort of Halifax, NS, Margaret Dort of Antigonish, NS and Brian (Jacquie) Dort; and his sister-in-law Brenda Layes of Antigonish, NS. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
