He was predeceased by: his brother Bill; and his parents, Annie Phinney (MacKenzie) and Lawrence Douglas Phinney. He is survived by: his wife Eleanor Avis (Marshall); his children, Michelle Dianne Keddy (Joe Goetz), Scott David and Kimberley Anne; his granddaughters, Jessalyn Priadka (Dan) and Kelsey Corkum (Wes); his great grandchildren, Emma, Alex, Owen and Mila; and his siblings, Williams (Lauren) and Elizabeth England (Ronald).

A wake was held on Sunday, April 26th 2026 at 2:00 PM, on Saturday, May 2nd 2026 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Don died peacefully with his son after a courageous 20 year battle against Parkinson's at the Glace Bay General Hospital.
