He was predeceased by : his wife Elaine; his parents, Abner MacMaster and Florence MacMaster (Hayden); his in-laws, Douglas and Loyola Halfpenny (Sturgeon); his sisters-in-law, Carol White (Halfpenny) and Doreen MacMaster; and his nieces, Katrina and Jewel Halfpenny.

He is survived by : his children, Andrew (Mandi) of Duffield, AB, Steven (Marigold) of Brook Village, NS, Nicole (Michael) of Fort McMurray, AB, Meghan (Alexander) of Fort McMurray, AB and Kathryn Manthorne; his grandchildren, Bryden, Rylan, Jackson, Cole, Hailey, Noah, Hannah, Violet, Blake and Bentley; his siblings, Joan Chisholm (Thomas) and Neil MacMaster; and his sister-in-law Marilyn. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and dear friends.

Family flowers only please - the family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers those who wish to honor Gary do so by giving back to the organizations that work hard to build and strengthen our community - the Boylston Community Center, Guysborough District Fish & Games Association, Guysborough Health Authority, Guysborough Food Bank or a local cause of your choosing.
