Alma Felicia (Johnston) Tynes Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Alma Felicia (Johnston) Tynes of Halifax, Nova Scotia, who passed away on October 21, 2020, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband Gerald F. Tynes; her parents, Deaconess Elizabeth J. (Grant) and Deacon Edgar Gordon Reid Johnston; her niece Rev. Tracey Grosse; and her siblings, Evelyn, Edith, Pearl and Robert (Bobby).

She is survived by: her sibling's children, Gregory, Brian (Hope), Royce (Rosemary), Darlene Smith (Darrell), Jeffrey (Helen), Robert (Bobby), Audrey, Joyce Riley (Merlin), Carolyn, Sharon Williams, Mavis Akasike and Twila; her sister-in-law Burley Johnston; her aunt Mable Sparks; and her godchildren, Russell Grosse, Elliot Beals, Jamie Sparks, Cicely Sparks and Warren Riley.

Alma travelled throughout Canada (Atlantic Provinces), Toronto, Montreal, Winnipeg, Saskatchewan, Vancouver and Victoria, the USA (New York, Florida, Kansas City, Arizona, Hawaii) Jamaica, Bahamas and Jerusalem; she had a trip planned to Brazil that was cancelled due to Covid 19.

Donations in her memory can be made to the Cherry Brook United Baptist Church, Black Cultural Centre or Heart and Stroke Society.
