He was predeceased by: his parents, Rena Lee (Farrell) of Malagash, N. S. and Charles Dort of Guysborough; and his sister Diane Doiron. He is survived by: his children, Nancy Castle (Edward) of Wittenburg and Shane Dort (Sarah) of British Columbia; his grandchildren, Hope, Kaleb, Logan, Reilly, Harper, Olivia, Mason and Emma; his goddaughter Patricia Fotherby; his sisters, Yvonne, Clare Ford (Art) of Lower Sackville, Edna Pelly Antigonish (Issac) and Irene Dort of Halifax; and his former wife Deborah Richards. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held on Monday, February 9th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Atlantic Funeral Home (6552 Bayers Rd, Halifax, NS B3L2B3).
