He was predeceased by: his parent Douglas Cogswell. He is survived by: his parent Mary Cogswell (MacPhee); his wife Averill (MacNeil); his daughters, Alison, Wendy Clements (Greg) and Rebecca McDonald (Ryan); his grandchildren, Calem Cogswell of Halifax and Savannah Clements of Halifax; his siblings, Joe Chisholm (Helen), Bernie Chisholm (Fran), Dougie Chisholm (Paulette), Kenny Chisholm, Irene McNeil (Rod) and Anne Cogswell; his sister-in-law Mary Cogswell; his brothers, Angus, Francis and Charles; and his sisters-in-law, Shirley and Sandra. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at Strait Richmond Hospital or the NS Mental Health Association.
