He was predeceased by : his mother Mary P. Young (Marriott); his sister Rebecca; and his grandmother Margaret Marriott. He is survived by : his father Gerry Young Jr.; his grandfather Ronald "Grampy" Marriott; his brother Sean Gordon Young (Sineade Winterhalt); and his nieces and nephews, Ella Winterhalt, Rebecca Young, Victoria Young, Benjamin Young and Everly Young.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the John Howard Society of Nova Scotia.
