Derek Wayne Hounsell Obituary

With sadness, we share the passing of Derek Wayne Hounsell (Halifax, Nova Scotia). Derek, born on January 19, 1953, passed away on August 17, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Walt Hounsell and Jean Hounsell; and his stepson Ronald Speed. He is survived by: his girlfriend Cherie Schelleman; his son Jonathan (Nicole); his stepdaughter Lori (Keith); his brother David (Valerie); his nephew Christopher (Kevin); his niece Andrea; his great-nephews, Caleb, Logan and Noah; his former spouse Lynn Hall; his in-laws, Wayne and Sharon Schelleman; his brother-in-law Rob Schelleman (Jennifer); and his nieces and nephews, Ashley (Tylor), Matthew (Camilla), Nicholas (Anna), Jenna and Johnathan.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, for those who wish to make a donation, memorial donation may be made to the Lung Association of NS or a charity of your choice.
