He was predeceased by: his parents, Laura Gentles and Arthur Gentles; his wife Eva; and his siblings, Florence, Beverly, Betty-Lou, Leonard, Lawrence (Laurie) and Jack.

He is survived by: his daughter Louise; his son-in-law Daryl; his grandchildren, Kayla, Nicholas and Benjamin; and his siblings, Gloria (Ralph), Paulette (Lowell) and Ronnie. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (Atlantic Region) or the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
