He was predeceased by: his parents, Alexander Donald and Viola MacIntosh (McManus); and his wife Nadia (Chatelain). He is survived by: his grandchildren, Heather Elizabeth MacKinnon (Mark Ruggle), Nadia Rose MacKinnon (Joshua Cairns) and Graeme Alexander MacKinnon (Natalie Helm); his great grandchildren, Emily and Liam; and his sister Mary MacIntosh.

If desired, donations may be made in memory of Donald to the Dalhousie Medical Research Foundation and Lung Association of Nova Scotia.
