He was predeceased by: his parents, Douglas James Oakley of Spryfield and Myra Irene Oakley-Hopkinson (Burgoyne); his stepfather George Hopkinson of Lakeside; his nephew Douglas James Oakley; his friend Ralph Reid (Alvena); Donna Earleen Oakley (Manuel) and Miss Maggie Mae.
He is survived by: his children, Gregory "Greg" Oakley of Cole Harbour and Lisa Hatch (Duane) of Waverley; his grandchildren, Kaylee Brooklyn, Jacob Douglas Oakley of Cape Breton and Brayden Thomas Douglas Hatch of Waverley; his sister Sandra "Ya-Ya" Forster; his siblings' children, Chuck (Lucy) and Andrea (Craig) of Ontario; his sibling Jackie (Rosalind); his siblings' children, Taryn and Desiree of Halifax; his sister Dolly Lunn (Terry); his siblings' children, Terry Lunn and Carrie Anne Russell (Marty) of Ontario; his brother David "Davey" (Sharon); his siblings' children, Michelle (Tony), Monique Oakley of Halifax and Michael (Evelyn); his great-niece Leah of Halifax; his sister Susan "Suzie" Oakley-Marcotte (Harry); his nieces, Nicole of Philip and Kayla of Halifax; his sisters-in-law, Cheryl Brake (Brad) of Dartmouth and Krista Elliott (Stewart) of Fall River; his godson Jason Reid of Calgary; Gladys Oakley of Dartmouth. He is also survived by many great nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 9th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Atlantic Funeral Home (771 Main St, Dartmouth, NS B2W3T9). A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, September 10th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In Lieu of flowers the family ask donations be made to Big Cove YMCA Camp.
