Edith May Marriott Obituary

On May 2nd 2019 our mother went to be with the Lord, while having her loving family by her side at the Halifax Infirmary. Born in 1920 at the family farmhouse in Beechville she was the daughter of pioneers Daisy (Moser) and William Bishop. Edith was the oldest lifelong resident in Lakeside. She is survived by her daughters Gloria, Halifax, Joyce (Max) Nothling, Nanoose Bay, BC, Lynn Anstey, Lakeside and son David (Martha), Rawdon.

Grandchildren Michael, Kim, David, Bonnie, Lisa and Bryan, four great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, her "sister" Diana and last but not least her beloved dog Blackie. She was predeceased by her husband Frank in 1976 and her brothers Roy and Joe. Edith worked along side her mother Daisy running the Beechville Post Office from their farmhouse, back in the late 30's when the train delivered the community mail right to the edge of their property.

She was a long time member of St. Luke's Anglican Church, Lakeside and faithfully served on Parish Council and the ACW. Mom was an avid people watcher who loved to travel. She will always be remembered for her sharp wit, positive attitude and caring nature. Mom loved life and lived it to the fullest. She was a true inspiration to all who met her.

She was a devoted and loving mother and will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. Visitation will take place May 7 from 11:30-1:30 at Snows Funeral Home, Lacewood Drive, Halifax. A funeral service will be held May 8, 2019 at 2 pm at Snows Funeral Home, Lacewood Drive. Following this service there will be a private graveside service for the family.

The family sends a special thank you to Claudia for always being there. Also many thanks to the staff of Comfort Keepers, especially Alma and Maria, as well as everyone from Closing the Gap. Special thanks to Dr. Bussey and Nurse Leslie and all the staff on unit 8.4 at The Infirmary. In lieu of flowers. donations may be made to St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Timberlea.
