He was predeceased by: his parents, Duncan Layes and Mary Layes. He is survived by: his wife Marie (Babin); his daughters, Angela (John), Fraser of Abercrombie, Caroline (Greg) and Page of Moncton; his grandson Sean; his brothers, Thomas "Tommy" (Sandy) and Duncan (Bev); and his sisters-in-law, Lynn Layes of Halifax and Helen Layes of Antigonish. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
