He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Mary Guthrie and Ebert Guthrie; his spouse Giselle Dufour; his children, Gail, Bruce Hebblethwaite, Gwen and John McGrayne; his brothers, Earl and William Guthrie; his grandchildren, Christopher Guthrie, Jaclyn King, Samantha Guthrie, Garry Guthrie, Alexander Guthrie and Brittney Guthrie; and his great grandchildren, Julia and Emma Guthrie. He was also cherished by extended family and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society.
