We announce the death of Gerald Maxwell Sparkes of Halifax, Nova Scotia, who passed away on June 26, 2026, at the age of 87. Gerald will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, John Sparkes and Violet Annie Sparkes (Young); and his wife Margaret Sparkes (Jewers). He is survived by: his children, Violet, Albert and Christine; his grandchildren, Troy, Tabatha, Cedulea, Tyrel, Terry, Courtney, Samara and Cavell; and his siblings, Woodrow, Ernest, Audrey, Shirley, Gordon, Carmen, Donald, Roy and Melvin. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gerald may be made to the Salvation Army.
