Holly Leigh-Ann Baltzer-Mahar Obituary

BALTZER, Holly Leigh-Ann ~ Age 44, of Halifax, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026. Born on November 6, 1981, she was a daughter of Frederick Baltzer and Laura Marcotte, and stepdaughter of Guy Marcotte.

Holly had a deep love for music, dancing, darts, and coffee, but above all, she cherished her role as a grandmother. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she was always present for them. Holly was social, outgoing, and known for her sense of humor—she loved to laugh and to make others laugh. No matter who you were, she would always try to lend a helping hand.

In recent years, Holly faced many challenges with strength and determination. She courageously battled addiction and overcame it, only to later be diagnosed with Huntington's disease. Facing her illness with honesty and dignity, she chose medical assistance in dying, ensuring her passing was peaceful and free of pain.

She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Chandler Mahar; daughters, Melodie Mahar and Scarlette Selig; brother, Matthew Baltzer; sisters, Shannon Heald and Kait-Lynn Bezanson; brothers, AJ Fitzgerald and Hunter Bezanson; and her cherished grandchildren, Audley-Allison Mahar, Atticus Mahar, and Adeline Mahar.

Holly was predeceased by her beloved son, Wyatt Mahar, with whom she will be laid to rest at a later date in a private family interment.
