He was predeceased by: his wife Joan Lawrence (Kelly); and his siblings, George Thompson, Ronald Lawrence, Helen, Madeline and Catherine.
He is survived by: his close friend Marjorie Waddleton; his sons, Darrell (Ruth) of Halifax and James Jr. (Rita) of Bedford; his sister Lorraine; his sister-in-law Barbara; his grandchildren, Kelly, Richard and Jonathan; and his great grandchildren, Hunter and Chase. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
