She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert MacNeill Rice and Millicent Parker Rice. She is survived by: her sisters, Pam Lynch (Peter) and Cindi Townsend (Marty) of Halifax; her nieces and nephews, Kelly Legatto (Jon) of Dartmouth, Gillian Lirette (Ron) of Halifax, Kate Townsend of Moncton, P. J. Lynch (Ashley) of Lethbridge, Jeff Townsend (Gillian) of Calgary and Scott Townsend (Brendal) of Lisbon, Portugal.; her great-nephews, Tyler Lirette (Ava Legatto), Riley Lirette (Sophie Legatto), Brady Lirette, Ben Townsend, Harper Lynch, Josh Townsend, Xavier Townsend (Evelyn Townsend) and Parker Lynch (Adeline Townsend); her pet Tilly; and her cousins, Sandy, Jackie and Wendy. She is also survived by many cousins and lifelong friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Snow's Funeral Home (339 Lacewood Dr, Halifax, NS B3S0E1).
Her contributions were recognized with numerous honours, including the A. Gordon Archibald Alumnus of the Year Award (2003), induction into the Dalhousie Sport Hall of Fame as a Builder (2010), and the Dr. A.J. "Sandy" Young Award (2012) for outstanding contributions to sport in Nova Scotia.
