She was predeceased by: her parents, Harold Farmer and Marjorie Brown; her husband Harold "Puppy" Higgins; and her children, Harold Brown and Bernadean Brown.
She is survived by: her children, George Brown (Brenda), Aron Brown of Halifax, Gaile Brown of Dartmouth, Wendy Brown-Downey of Toronto and Maxine Higgins of Toronto. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
