He was predeceased by: his mother Jeanine Lavoie (Aucoin). He is survived by: his parent Claude; his common-law partner Kelly McBride; his children, Kristyn Lavoie, Cassandra Butson, Alex Lavoie and Matthew Lavoie; and his siblings, Chantale Lavoie, Denis Lavoie and Norman Lavoie. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Marc's name to the Nova Scotia Firefighters Burn Treatment Society.
