With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Marie Lilas Violet Cowan (Halifax, Nova Scotia), who passed away on January 7, 2026 at the age of 93. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her mother Jane Elizabeth (Bessie); her husband William E Cowan; her son William H Cowan; her granddaughter Amanda Marshall; and her sister Gwendolyn Daine.
She is survived by: her siblings, Harry, James Daine and Rowena Mahar; her children, Deborah (Kevin Marshall), Heather, Edward (Carol Anne) and David; her daughter-in-law Lori Cowan; her grandchildren, Morgan Cowan, William J Cowan, Christina Marshall, Erin Osmond (Arron) and Violet Smith-Cowan; and her great grandchild Hunter Cowan-Splane. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In keeping with mom's love of helping those in need (human, feline or birds), and in lieu of flowers, donations to either Bide Awhile Shelter or Feed Nova Scotia would be appreciated.
