He was predeceased by: his parents, Stanley Sampson and Catherine Sampson (Chisholm). He is survived by: his wife Ruby (Day); his children, John and Maisie (Pat McQuarrie); his stepdaughter Patricia Gaudet (Don); his grandchildren, Morgan White, Jessica Perks, Andy McQuarrie, Zachary Gaudet and Luke Gaudet; his great grandchildren, Wyatt Gaudet and Cameron Gaudet; his sisters, Doreen Meider (John), Nancy Tomes (Wayne) and Donna Mann (Richie); and his siblings-in-law, Murray Day, Daphne Isnor (Malcolm) and Helen Douglas (Albert). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held on Sunday, February 1st 2026 at 2:00 PM at the J. A. Snow Funeral Home (339 Lacewood Dr, Halifax, NS B3S0E1).
