He was predeceased by: his parents, John Downey and Maude Downey; his parents-in-law, William and Beatrice Anderson; his granddaughter Stacey Downey; his siblings, Edward Downey, Frank Downey (Annie), Raymond Downey (Ida), George Downey (Marie), Leo Downey, Augustus Downey, Thomas Downey, Rose Brake (Carl) and Theresa Prosser (Randolph); and his siblings-in-law, Bernard O'Gorman, Rebecca Sheaves (James), Mildred Burridge (George) and Nina Skeard (Clarence).
He is survived by: his wife Ruth Downey; his children, Michael Downey (Diane) of O'Regan's, NL, James Downey (Goretti) of Halifax, NS, Cecil Downey (Racheal) of Yarmouth, NS, Wanda Chaisson (Roger) of Sackville, NS, Sylvia Dennis (Rick) of Dartmouth, NS, Darlene Downey (Dennis) of South Branch, NL and Arlene Squires of Fort McMurray, AB; his grandchildren, Jeffrey, Darren, Carlene, Terrilynn, Arthur, Tiffany, Travis, Derick, Shawn Lee, Angie, Jamie, Adrian, Erica, Vince, Dustin, Dylan and Jay; his siblings, Hycianth Downey (Mary) of Dryden, ON and Margaret O'Gorman of Stephenville, NL; and his siblings-in-law, Blanche Downey of Millville, NL, Winifred Downey of Codroy, NL and Cecil Anderson (Florence) of Pasadena, NL. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
