He was predeceased by: his parents, Belmont Sr. Nickerson and Susan Nickerson (Ross); his former wife Yola Nickerson (Atkinson); and his brothers, Russell and Belmont Jr..

He is survived by: his wife Hattie Ellen Nickerson; his sons, Neil (Adrienne), Royden (Ethel), David (Lois) and Larry (Debbie); his stepchildren, Peter Crowell (Pamela) and Martha Crowell; and his brother Cecil Atkinson. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
