He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick Smith and Mary Smith (Harvie); and his siblings, Marie Whiston, Shirley Cornies, Leota Davison, Palmer Smith and Kenneth Smith.

He is survived by: his wife Doreen (Ettinger); his children, Barbara Broddy (Craig), Brian Smith (Valerie) and Karen Price (Stephen); his sister Dorothy Smith; his grandchildren, Joshua Smith (Mallory), Kathlyn Smith (Troy), Christopher Smith, Sophie Penner (Alex), Tessa Price, Meghan Broddy and Taylor Broddy; his stepgrandchildren, Janelle Marshall and Justin Marshall; and his great grandchildren, Kenedi, Quinn, Haidyn, John, Mackenzie, Jack and Alice. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a private family interment will take place in Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport, Rev. Jennifer Riley officiating.
