We are sad to announce that on December 13, 2022, at the age of 87, Rita Briand of Halifax, Nova Scotia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Victor Joseph Doyle and Margaret Ann; her brother Albert; and her siblings-in-law, Albert Tanguay, Frank Sullivan and Joan Pledge.

She is survived by: her close friend Daniel Louis Briand (Danny); her grandchildren, Victoria Emanuelle, Hannah Forest-Briand, Laura Brett, Joshua Hanusiak, Jordan, Jeremy, Alex, Daniel Stirling, Lily and Celia Briand; her sisters, Monica Sullivan, Charlotte Tanguay and Rosalie Lionais (Dave); her sister-in-law Mary; and her brothers, Anselm (Marie), Russell (Dianne) and John (Sandra). She is also survived by her brothers and sisters were not only siblings but also her friends.

“Hi, Joseph and Deb, my sincerest sympathies at the passing of your mother. I remember her in her Aberdeen days, so stylish, wonderful purses and so kind. The other ladies would ask her if she wanted to walk over to concerts or outside with them. They liked her company. She spoke so often about you both, how she was proud of you and occasional tales from your childhoods, too. She will be missed here. Our staff at Drummond were very fond of her.”
