He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick Charlton and Mae Charlton (Slaunwhite); his wife Theresa Marion (Noel); and his brothers, Cyril, Ken, Don, Ervin and Reggie.

He is survived by: his children, Debra Meagher Timberlea (Bill), Nancy Lawrence, Patti Theriault Timberlea (Paul), Paula Henry Halifax (Darrell), Susan Charlton Halifax (Mike Waldron), Douglas Charlton Timberlea (Sharon) and Michael Charlton; his sisters, Helen Ferguson (Skit) and Evelyn Comfort; and his sisters-in-law, Marguerite, Betty and Jacqueline. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren.
