He was predeceased by: his parents, Reginald and Jean (Sheppard); and his brother Barry. He is survived by: his significant other Wendy Hamm of Chester; his sons, Jason (Leanne) and Tom; his siblings, David (Joyce), Karen (Tom George), Wanda (Brad Morgan), Monty, Vicki (Tom Brake) and Roger (Sandra); his grandchildren, Brent, Ryan, Adam and Kate; his sister-in-law Pat; and also Maureen (Quigley). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Feed Nova Scotia or Special Olympics Nova Scotia, two causes near and dear to Tom's heart.
