He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas McDonald and Emmeline McDonald; and his siblings, Marjorie, Patrick, Audrey and Carole Anne.

He is survived by: his wife Margaret Rose; his children, Wendy Soulis (Steve), Carol-Anne McDonald (Greg Blanchard), Jackie McDonald (Jack Tufts) and Jason McDonald (Jill) of Halifax, N. S.; his grandchildren, Sarah, Nicholas, Emma, Tori, Elizabeth, Rowan and Dylan; his great grandchildren, Sawyer, Isabella and Isaac; and his niece Marjorie Kathleen McDonald. He is also survived by his girls vacationed as young children.
