He was predeceased by : his parents, Ernest MacDonald of Burnt Islands, NL. and Susan MacDonald (Leamon) of Burnt Islands, NL.; and his siblings, Sadie (Keeping), Elizabeth (Duckworth) and Robert. He is survived by : his wife Emily; his children, Shane Lower Sackville (Ruby), Gary George (Ann Elizabeth), River and Wendy (Steve); his brother Percy Halifax (Meg); his grandchildren, Jacqueline, Elizabeth, Alycia, Eric and Brett; and his great grandchildren, Daniel, Shane, Hope, Titus, Lydia and Abegail.

The joys of retirement were cut short when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 1999.
