It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Wietske Sjoeke Gradstein (Halifax, Nova Scotia), who passed away on January 28, 2022, at the age of 74, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Titia Wietske Kooistra and Professor Martin Gerard Rutten; her husband Felix; her brothers, Rob Rutten (Rietje Vonk) and Kees Rutten (Inger Domingo); her daughters, Janneke Gradstein (Gisli Sigtryggsson) and Roetka Gradstein; her nieces and nephews, Anne (Niels), Marleen (Declan), Katrien (Bart), Titia (Piet), Enno (Martine), Tjerk and Martijn (Derya); her grandchildren, Aminata, Subira, Oskar, Tomas and Peter; her sisters, Els Rutten and Lous Rutten; and her close friend Steven. She was also cherished by Her brothers and nieces, daughters and many family friends.

Donations in her memory can be made to the Universalist Unitarian Church of Halifax, earmarked towards the building of the Wietske Gradstein memorial deck, an outdoor space that will be open for community building events of all kinds.
