She was predeceased by: her parents, Edith Kennedy and Claude Symonds; and her sister Angela Miller. She is survived by: her sons, Justin Symonds and Markiet Symonds; her siblings, Roxanne Symonds, Sonja Kennedy-Swan, Sandra Symonds (Julie Cooper), Claudine Symonds, Chris Symonds (Lisa), Eddie Symonds (Tasha Pombleton) and Cleveland Williams; her siblings' children, Monique Anderson and Michael Khan; and her cousins, Candace Symonds and Kenneth "Dunk" Cassidy. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Donations in memory may be made to the kidney dialysis unit of the QEII, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Diabetes Society on Nova Scotia.
