Tsige Teferi Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Tsige Teferi (Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 1, 2026 at the age of 58. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As Tsige departs from our midst, her spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Tsige. Though Tsige may no longer walk beside us, her legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
She was loved and cherished by many people including: her spouse Professor Alfred Nhema; and her children, Kudzai, Edzai, Mariamawit and Chipo. She was also cherished by her family, friends.
A funeral service was held on Wednesday, May 6th 2026 at the Saint Gabriel Ethiopian Orthodox Church (1608 Hammonds Plains Rd, Hammonds Plains, NS B4B1P5).
In Ethiopia, she served as Chief of Party with Development Alternatives Incorporated (DAI) from October 2011 to August 2012, and earlier as Chief HIV/AIDS Advisor with the Clinton Foundation from August 2007 to November 2010.
