He was predeceased by : his parents, Elizabeth Strickland and Ward Strickland; his wife Eileen Strickland (Wells); his brother Jack Hatcher; his brother-in-law Gary Wells; and his close friend Fred Leitch (Patricia).

He is survived by : his children, David Jr., William and Alleeta; his grandchildren, Devlin, Zachary, Katelyn and Brooklyn; his siblings, Allettia, Violet Strickland Burgeo, Mary Dominey Burgeo (Stan) and Ward Strickland Burgeo (Brenda); his sister-in-law Gladys Simms Hermitage; his pets, Dina and Finnegan; and also Hailey.
