Renda Mary VanderToorn Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Renda Mary VanderToorn of Hantsport, Nova Scotia, who passed away on August 10, 2022 at the age of 61. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She is survived by : her husband Casey; her parents, Merle Carey and Joan Carey; her brother Randy Carey (Cathy); her nieces and nephews, Kelsey, Dylan and Christian; her sister Paula Newcombe (Tony); her nieces and nephews, Jacob and Ashley; her stepsons, Jason VanderToorn (Shawna) and Darrin VanderToorn (Ali); and her grandchildren, Mackenzie, Ethan, Delaney, Kyle, Mason, Athen and Rachel.

The family has requested that because of the delicate situation and for the safety of Merle, Joan and Casey that people will respect social distancing and wear masks in their presence at this time.

Wendy Connors-Beckett wrote a sympathy message

“Dearest Merle, Joan, Casey and family. I am so heartbroken to hear that Renda has passed. It really defies logic that she could be gone so quickly. Renda was a remarkable friend. She stayed in touch and always kept me up to speed on many happenings in Hantsport. I have such fond memories of working at the HMCC with her for 2 summers. She fostered my interest in tennis. I shall miss her smiling face, her robust laugh and her sometimes irreverent sass. She was one of a kind and I loved her.”
