Walter M. Vaters Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Walter M. Vaters of Hatchet Lake, Nova Scotia, who passed away on February 1, 2026, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, James Vaters and Frances Vaters (Bailey); his wife Christina Mitchell; his daughter Yvonne Vaters-Verde; his foster brother William Withers; and his sister Genevieve Murphy.
He is survived by: his children, Walter, Darlene Slaunwhite (Louis), Gail Hopkinson (Darrell), Kelly Vaters-Vieth (Chad) and Frances Vaters (Robert Cameron); and his brothers, Andy Vaters (Karen) and James Vaters (Joyce). He is also survived by eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 6th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the J. A. Snow Funeral Home (339 Lacewood Dr, Halifax, NS B3S0E1). A Mass was held on Saturday, February 7th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
