He was predeceased by: his parents, Louise Gillis (MacDonald) and Kenneth Gillis Sr.; his sister Loretta Gillis; his grandparents, Margaret, Archie D. Gillis, Mary Ann (Gillis) and Johnny MacDonald; and his aunts and uncles, Kay MacDonald (John Donald), Annie Laurie Zenns (Tony), Elizabeth DiFazio (Mario), Marie MacDonald, Isobel MacDonald (MacLellan), Donald Gillis (Peggy), Martin Gillis (Eileen), Stanley Gillis (Loretta) and Alex Graham (Winnifred Beaton).

He is survived by: his wife Sylvia Budiashi; his stepson Alex; his siblings, Virginia MacIsaac (A. J.), Kenneth Gillis Jr. (Mary), Brenda MacDonald and Clayton Gillis (Karen Lee); his siblings' children, Kent MacIsaac (Claudia), Chris MacIsaac (Joanna), Amy MacDonald and Nolan MacDonald; his great-niece Brooklyn MacIsaac; his great-nephew Alex A. MacIsaac; and his aunts and uncles, Margaret Beaton, Sadie MacDonald, John Duncan MacDonald, Clair MacDonald (Ronalda) and Archie MacDonald.
