He was predeceased by: his parents, Simon Gillis and Flora Belle Gillis; and his siblings, Anne, Marion and Rannie.
He is survived by: his wife Mary J. Gillis; his children, Barbara (Stephen) and Bradley; and his siblings, Barbara and Anthony (Ellen). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia and would be appreciated by the family.
